About Black Hole Brewery
BHB is based in the old Ind Coope bottling plant in Burton-upon-Trent, in the shadow of the Coors tower and within spitting distance of Marstons.
The name BHB was suggested by aliens who appeared before Rich whilst walking home after a particularly heavy market research session. The brewer maintains that although he wasn’t interfered with many wonderful brews will emerge as a consequence of his time spent aboard ship. The 10 brl. stainless steel plant which was installed in November, was designed to Richards specification and built by Abbotts of Newark, although several heart in mouth moments were experienced, especially with ½ ton of stainless balanced 4m above the brew house floor (see photos) all was plumbed in without hitch. Brewing proper started early January, 2007.
After many months of recipe formulation, using the special brewing machine given to Rich by the aliens, the 3 brews that have emerged from the Black Hole:
Black Hole Bitter 3.8% Red Dwarf 4.5% No Escape 5.2%
Many thanks to everybody who offered help advice and encouragement, most of whom are fellow brewers.
All of the photographs seen here within will need little explanation, although they will never convey the highs and lows that went into a pint from BHB. The story will continue to unfold, so keep in touch and learn more about Dick’s alien antics.![]()
